About Classic B&B
Classic B&B is a guide to the buildings on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places that have welcomed travelers: colonial taverns, stagecoach inns, spa and mountain resorts, national-park lodges, lighthouses and Victorian houses converted into bed-and-breakfasts. It is for people who choose where to stay partly for the building, and who want to know what they are looking at when they arrive.
Each page is built from the building's National Register nomination form and other public records, written up in our own words, with photographs from Wikimedia Commons and maps drawn for the site. The pages are rebuilt every week. Read how we choose and check.
What we don't do
We don't sell rooms, take bookings or earn commissions, and nobody pays to be listed. We don't publish prices, ratings or reviews. If that ever changes (for example, if we add affiliate links), the change will be stated on every affected page and on the privacy page before it happens.
Corrections
History is argued over and businesses open and close. If a page is wrong, especially about whether a building takes guests, we want to fix it. Corrections are taken from public, citable sources: an owner's website, a state historic preservation office, a newspaper report. Each page lists its sources and the date its status was checked.
Classic B&B is published by an independent operator and is not affiliated with the National Park Service, the National Register of Historic Places, or any hotel, inn or booking company.
